Meet The Nelsons

Our journey began on July 12, 2022, at Chapala, a cozy Mexican restaurant near Sam Rayburn Lake in Jasper, Texas. Over chips, salsa, and margaritas, we quickly realized we had something special. After dinner, we strolled along the beach, talking about everything and nothing all at once. It was the kind of connection that felt both effortless and electric. What followed was a whirlwind few months of dating before life pulled us in different directions. Tyler headed to Korea with the Army, while Ali chased her dreams to Nashville. With a 14-hour time difference between us, long-distance love was no easy feat, but we made it work through late-night video calls, mismatched phone times, and occasional visits. And in between, we kept the romance alive by sending postcards to each other—little snapshots of our separate worlds, tucked into envelopes and filled with notes that made us feel close, even when we were far apart.&nbsp;Those two years taught us patience, creativity, and how to appreciate every small moment we got to share. Finally, the stars aligned and life brought us back to each other—this time in El Paso, Texas. There, on a beautiful evening with a bottle of wine, a charcuterie board, and a stunning sunset over the Franklin Mountains, Tyler asked the question we both knew was coming: "Will you marry me?" It was simple, yet perfect—just like our love. After almost three years of chasing each other across the globe, we’re finally ready to stop running and settle into forever. We couldn’t be more excited to begin this new chapter together, surrounded by the people we love.

Kirstine is not just Ali’s Maid of Honor – she’s her lifelong partner-in-crime. The two met years ago at a camp, and from that moment, they’ve been inseparable. From late-night study sessions to spontaneous adventures, Kirstine has been there for it all. She’s the one Ali turns to for advice, laughs, and unwavering support. Their bond is unbreakable, and Ali couldn’t be more thrilled to have her by her side on this special day.

Tyler first met Will when Tyler got stationed in South Korea at Camp Humphryes. What first started off as Tyler reviewing Will’s reports and sending them back for corrections, turned into a lasting friendship. Will and Tyler became best friends from late night drinking in the barracks, hitting the bars in the Ville and playing subpar golf.

Deanna is not only Ali’s older sister, but she’s also one of her closest friends. Growing up together, they’ve shared countless memories, from childhood adventures to all of life’s big moments. As the older sister, Deanna has always been a guiding force in Ali’s life, offering wisdom, humor, and endless support. Ali is so lucky to have her standing by her side as a bridesmaid on this unforgettable day.

Tyler first met Louis in South Korea when he replaced Louis at work. Louis, knowing what it felt like to be new to the country with no friends, had him inviting Tyler out all the time. Louis and Tyler’s followed very similar career paths, and both became Warrant Officers while in Korea. The friendship between Tyler, Louis and Will grew as the years went on in Korea bonding over drinks, games and watching the best show ever “I Think You Should Leave”.

Kelsey is the groom’s older sister and has always been a strong, supportive presence in his life. As a sister, she’s been there through all the highs and lows, and Ali is thrilled to now call her family as well. She’s so grateful to have Kelsey by her side as a bridesmaid and excited to share this special day with someone who means so much to the groom.

Rich and Tyler’s interaction started off like the rest of the groomsmen, in South Korea through work. What started as a mentorship from Rich, turned quickly into a friendship. Rich’s love of photography and sight seeing had him exploring South Korea on the weekends and would bring Tyler out to get him out of the barracks.

We have reserved a room block at the Hacienda Del Rio.Guests may check in as early as April 24, 2026 and check out by April 27, 2026. You are welcome to extend your stay, but additional nights will not be included in the room block.

While there are plenty of hotels in the area, these are the closest to our venue. We’ve also reserved a room block at the Hacienda Del Rio, just 7 minutes away, for anyone who’d like to stay nearby. If you’re looking for a cozy, home-like stay, we encourage you to explore one of the many nearby Airbnbs. For a charming, boutique experience, consider staying at one of the local bed and breakfasts.
